 來自紐西蘭北島南方的Martinborough產區,酒莊最優質的朝北向陽坡面為Blue Rock地塊,生產最優質的酒莊系列!
 
不同於同區其他酒莊,酒莊地塊特殊的位於坡面之上,且土質為最適合的石灰質粘土,更位於背風面,葡萄成熟度相當良好。
 
2011年份獲得WA給予91分,並述說他『具清新酸度且單寧細緻,尾韻悠長而優雅』,其2010年份曾獲得2012年澳洲小型釀造者大賞『金牌獎』、2012年新紐西蘭國際酒展『金牌獎』,2012英國Decanter『銀牌獎』與Winestate給予四顆星並入選2011年的『Wine of the Year』!

紐西蘭葡萄酒,因生長環境天然,口感清新,被喻為『純淨綠土的寶藏』,擁有乾淨清爽的風格。
 
位在紐西蘭北島南端的Murdoch James莫多克酒莊,座落於Martinborough的Dry River產區,有相當特別的葡萄園,相對於大部分酒莊靠近河谷平地,莫多克的葡萄園大部分都在斜坡,而且是非常適合出產優質葡萄的沈積海洋石灰岩土質,裡面還可以發現些貝類化石,最優良的地塊被酒莊稱為Blue Rock藍岩,白天日照充足且夜晚受到涼風吹拂,讓葡萄能夠成熟卻又帶有漂亮架構與酸度,除了Pinot Noir,他們更率先在此區種植Syrah葡萄。
 
自1986年開始種植,現任莊主Roger Fraser以其父Murdoch James Fraser來為酒莊命名,葡萄皆以手工摘採釀造,但採用新式的乾淨設備,是傳統與現代的結合。酒莊的Blue Rock地塊為朝北向陽面的礫石坡地,酒莊又位於背風面,這裡的葡萄成熟度相當良好,為酒莊最自豪的優質地塊。
 
 
 
2011年份的Blue Rock Pinot Noir飽滿輕盈又芳香的紅櫻桃與紅皮李子香氣,伴隨適度的煙燻與木桶辛香料,這是款香氣奔放且單寧綿密的黑皮諾,果感充滿活力且尾韻悠長而迷人,又有頗好的礦石氣息來帶出層次感,2011年份獲得WA給予91分,並述說他『具清新酸度且單寧細緻,尾韻悠長而優雅』,其2010年份曾獲得2012年澳洲小型釀造者大賞『金牌獎』、2012年新紐西蘭國際酒展『金牌獎』,2012英國Decanter『銀牌獎』與Winestate給予四顆星並入選2011年的『Wine of the Year』!

Pale to medium ruby-purple in color, this Pinot Noir reveals pretty red cherry and violet notes with nuances of underbrush and bark. Medium Bodied, it has a crisp acid line and low to medium levels of very fine tannins, holding through to a long, elegant finish.

Estate-grown south of the township, excellent vintage of this single-vineyard red, although with bottle-age, some leafy notes are emerging. Deeply coloured and mouthfilling, with a floral bouquet, it is a supple, fruit-driven style, with a subtle seasoning of French oak, gentle tannins and fresh, concentrated cherry, plum and dried-herb flavours.

Rich, flavoursome wine with dark cherry, Doris plum, wood smoke and spicy oak flavours. This really  is an appealing pinot noir with a silken texture, energy and good length. A producer worth watch.  Good drinking now and over the next 7 years. 
 
40% Abel clone from 25 y.o. vines, 20% 114 from 12 y.o. vines, the remainder 115, 667 and 777 from the ‘Blue Rock' vineyard, fully destemmed and fermented partially with indigenous yeasts to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 14 months in 30% new French oak. Dark, deep ruby-red colour with some garnet hues on the rim. The nose is full of bright and vibrant dark red berry and cherry fruits, lifted with violetty florals, fresh herbs and minerals. Some resiny oak notes and sulphide reduction is present at this youthful stage. Medium-full bodied, the lively fruit flavours of dark red berries and cherries are enlivened by excellent acidity, which provides tension and energy through the palate. Fine tannin textures and a smooth mouthfeel feature, but a little bitterness from the reduction is present. The vitality of the wine will enable this to keep, and the sulphides should be absorbed to become complexity over the next 5-7 years.
